Stand Up for Jesus

Stand Up for Jesus
4/4

      G                C
Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
   G               D
Ye soldiers of the cross,
     G              C          G        D7     G
Lift high His royal banner, it must not suffer loss.
     C            G           C             D7
From victory unto victory His army shall He lead,
     G            C
Till every foe is vanquished
    G         D7      G
And Christ is Lord indeed.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
The trumpet call obey;
Forth to the mighty conflict,
In this, His glorious day.
"Ye that are men now serve Him,
Against unnumbered foes;
Let courage rise with danger,
And strength to strength oppose.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
Stand in His strength alone;
The arm of flesh will fail you,
Ye dare not trust your own,
Put on the gospel armour,
Each piece put on with prayer;
Where duty calls or danger,
Be never wanting there.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
The strife will not be long;
This day the noise of battle,
The next the victor's song.
To Him that overcometh
A crown of life shall be;
He with the King of glory
Shall reign eternally.

Stand by Me

Stand by Me

         E
When the storms of life are raging
A        E
Stand by me;

When the storms of life are raging

Stand by me;

When the world is tossing me
                 G#7  C#m
Like a ship upon the sea,
         E
Thou who rulest wind and water
B7       E
Stand by me.

In the midst of tribulation
Stand by me;
In the midst of tribulation
Stand by me.
When the hosts of sin assail,
And my strength begins to fail,
Thou who never lost a battle
Stand by me.

In the midst of faults and failures
Stand by me;
In the midst of faults and failures
Stand by me;
When I’ve done the best I can,
And my friends misunderstand,
Thou who knowest all about me
Stand by me.

When I’m growing old and feeble
Stand by me;
When I’m growing old and feeble
Stand by me;
When my life becomes a burden,
And I’m nearing chilly Jordan,
O Thou Lily of the Valley
Stand by me.

Spirit of God, Descend Upon My Heart

 Spirit of God, Descend Upon My Heart

Bb        F    Bb  Eb  Bb F7   Bb
Spirit of God, descend upon my heart;
Gm   A       Dm     G7      F       C7     F
Wean it from earth; through all its pulses move;
                Eb/F  F7    Eb/F     F7
Stoop to my weakness, mighty as Thou art;
Bb          Eb        Bb Gm Bb/F F7   Bb
And make me love Thee as I ought to love.

I ask no dream, no prophet ecstasies,
No sudden rending of the veil of clay,
No angel visitant, no opening skies;
But take the dimness of my soul away.

Teach me to feel that Thou art always nigh;
Teach me the struggles of the soul to bear.
To check the rising doubt, the rebel sigh,
Teach me the patience of unanswered prayer.

Hast Thou not bid me love Thee, God and King?
All, all Thine own, soul, heart and strength and mind.
I see Thy cross; there teach my heart to cling:
O let me seek Thee, and O let me find!

Teach me to love Thee as Thine angels love,
One holy passion filling all my frame;
The kindling of the heaven descended Dove,
My heart an altar, and Thy love the flame.

Springs of Living Water

Springs of Living Water

  G                              D7
I thirsted in the barren land of sin and shame
                               G
And nothing satisfying there I found
                                       Am
But to the blessed cross of Christ one day I came
      D7                           G
Where springs of living water did abound

Chorus:
D7                                G
Drinking at the springs of living water
D7                 G
Happy now am I, my soul is satisfied
D7                                G
Drinking at the springs of living water
  D7                        G
O wonderful and bountiful supply

How sweet the living water from the hills of God
It makes me glad and happy all the way
Now glory, grace and blessing mark the path I've trod
I'm shouting "Hallelujah" every day

Chorus

O sinner, won't you come today to Calvary
A fountain there is flowing deep and wide
The Saviour now invites you to the water free
Where thirsting spirits can be satisfied

F#2     G#m7
Don't know what He sees in me, he is spirit, he is free
  F#maj7/A#   B2   G#m7 C#sus

   How he keeps his sanity, Hosea, you're a fool

But sometimes through your eyes I see I'd rather be a fool

The fondness of a father, the passion of a child
The tenderness of a loving friend, an understanding smile
All of this and so much more you've lavished on a faithless whore
I've never known love like this before, Hosea you're a fool

CHORUS

     D#m /C# B2     /A#
This God of yours would not have told
   G#m7        C#
To lift a love that you couldn't hold

SOMETHING GOT A HOLD OF ME

SOMETHING GOT A HOLD OF ME

[C] At first when I heard of some people who claim
That the old-time religion was [G] real
I [C] said "I'll go down, take a [F] look at the crowd
For [C] just that weak-[G] minded I [C] feel."

[C] I walked up the steps and I peeked in the door
But the Devil said, "Don't you go [G] in!"
But I [C] said, "It won't hurt me, I'll [F] just step inside;
And I'll [C] set as far [G] back as I [C] can." [But-]

Yes Something Got A Hold Of [G] Me [Oh! Lord]
I [C] went there to fight but I'll [F] tell you that night
God [C] certainly got a [G] hold of [C] me.

They sang like they meant it, they all clapped their hands
I said it's commotion, that's all
When they get down to pray, I'll just get up and leave
For I don't wanta be seen here at all.

But I bowed that time he got started to preach
And he looked straight down at me
He told ev'rybody how mean that I was
He didn't talk like he thought much of me.

I sat in my seat just thinkin' it o'er
And then they all started to pray
The fire fell from Heaven, I fell to the floor
I prayed there and God had His way. [For-]

           D
But I will walk this road a while
      G    D       A      D
And I will walk it with a smile
               G     D
I will take it in my stride
G       D       A       D
Someday I'll be satisfied

There's eternity before me
Just beyond the dark'ning veil
O my spirit hollers to go on
Someday my ship will sail

But I will walk this road awhile
And I will walk it with a smile
I will take it in my stride
Someday I'll be satisfied
Someday I'll be satisfied

Some Golden Daybreak

 Some Golden Daybreak

G                            D
Some glorious morning sorrow will cease;
D7                             G
Some glorious morning all will be peace.
                                 G7  C
Heartaches all ended, schooldays all done;
            G      C     D    G
Heaven will open - Jesus will come.

Chorus:
                           D
Some golden daybreak Jesus will come;
D7                                G
Some golden daybreak, battles all won,
G7                       C                 Am
He’ll shout the vict’ry, break through the blue;
E°          G  C  G   D   G
Some golden daybreak, for me, for you.

Sad hearts will gladden, all shall be bright,
Goodbye forever to earth’s dark night;
Changed in a moment, like Him to be,
Oh, glorious daybreak, Jesus I’ll see.

Oh, what a meeting, there in the skies;
No tears or crying shall dim our eyes.
Loved ones united eternally,
Oh, what a daybreak that morn will be.

Soldiers of Christ

Soldiers of Christ

C           Am       F         C               G
Soldiers of Christ, arise, and put your armour on,
       C       Am            D       G    D7      G   C   D7  G
Strong in the strength which God supplies through His eternal Son
       C              F          D             G
Strong in the Lord of hosts, and in His mighty power,
    C      F           Dm G  C         F         G7     C
Who in the strength of Jesus trusts is more than conqueror.

Stand then in His great might, with all His strength endued,
But take to arm you for the fight the panoply of God;
That having all things done, and all your conflicts passed,
Ye may overcome through Christ alone and stand entire at last.

Stand then against your foes, in close and firm array;
Legions of wily fiends oppose throughout the evil day;
But meet the sons of night, and mock their vain design,
Armed in the arms of heavenly light, of righteousness divine.

Leave no unguarded place, no weakness of the soul,
Take every virtue, every grace, and fortify the whole;
Indissolubly joined, to battle all proceed;
But arm yourselves with all the mind that was in Christ, your Head.

Pray without ceasing, pray, (your Captain gives the word)
His summons cheerfully obey and call upon the Lord;
To God your every want in instant prayer display,
Pray always, pray and never faint, pray, without ceasing, pray.

From strength to strength go on, wrestle and fight and pray,
Tread all the powers of darkness down and win the well fought day.
Still let the Spirit cry in all His soldiers, “Come!”
Till Christ the Lord descends from high and takes the conquerors home.

Slow Train

 Slow Train

(Am)
Sometimes I feel so low down and disgusted
               (Dm)                             (Am)
Can't help but wonder what's happenin' to my companions

Are they lost or are they found,

have they counted the cost it'll take to break down
(Dm)                                                 (Am)
All their earthly principles they're gonna have to abandon?
          (F)                (Dm)                (Am)
There's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend

I had a woman down in Alabama
She was a backwoods girl, but she sure was realistic
She said, "Boy, without a doubt,
have to quit your messin' and straighten out
You could die down here, be another accident statistic"
There's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend

All that foreign oil controlling American soil,
Look around you, it's just bound to make you embarrassed
Sheikhs walkin' around like kings, wearing fancy jewels and nose rings
Deciding America's future from Amsterdam and to Paris
And there's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend

Man's ego's inflated, his laws are outdated,
They don't apply no more, you can't rely no more to be standin' around
waitin'
In the home of the brave, Jefferson turnin' over in his grave
Fools glorifying themselves, trying to manipulate Satan
And there's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend

Big time negotiators, false healers and woman haters,
Masters of the bluff and masters of the proposition
But the enemy I see wears a cloak of decency,
All non-believers and men stealers talkin' in the name of religion
And there's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend

People starving and thirsting, grain elevators are bursting
Oh, you know it cost more to store the food than it do to give it
They say loose your inhibitions, follow your own ambitions,
They talk about a life of brotherly love, show me someone who knows how
to live it
There's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend

Well, my baby went to Illinois with some bad-talkin' boy she could
destroy
A real suicide case, but there was nothing I could do to stop it
I don't care about economy, I don't care about astronomy
But it sure do bother me to see my loved ones turning into puppets
There's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend

Softly and Tenderly

Softly and Tenderly

G                   C        G
Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling,
Em          A7          D    D7
Calling for you and for me.
G                       C           G
Patient and loving He’s waiting and watching;
C            D       D7    G
Watching for you and for me.

Chorus:

     D7        G
Come home, come home,
D          G     A7   D     D7
Ye who are weary come home;
G                    C        G
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling;
C           G       D7   G
Calling, "O sinner, come home!"

Why should we linger when Jesus is pleading,
Pleading for you and for me?
Why should we wait, then, and heed not His mercies;
Mercies for you and for me?

O for the wonderful love He has promised,
Promised for you and for me.
Though we have sinned He has mercy and pardon;
Pardon for you and for me.

Sinner You’d Better Get Ready

Sinner You’d Better Get Ready

    C             F          G7
Oh, sinner, you’d better get ready,
                               G      Am
Sinner you’d better get ready, hallelujah.
G7  C            F          G7 Am
Oh, sinner you’d better get ready,
F       C       F               G7          C
For the time is coming that the sinner must die.

   F          C     F C      G7
Oh sinner man you had better pray,
C       F               G7          C
Time is coming that the sinner must die;
       F                           C    Am
For it looks like Judgement every day.
C        F              G7          C
Time is coming that the sinner must die;

I heard a lumbering in the sky,
Time is coming that the sinner must die;
That makes me think my time was nigh.
For the time is coming that the sinner must die.

Oh God gave Noah the rainbow sign,
The time is coming when the sinner must die.
It won’t be the water before next time,
The time’s a coming when the sinner must die.

I thought I heard all the preachers say,
"The time’s a coming when the sinner must die."
You better get down on your knees and pray,
The time’s a coming when the sinner must die.

Since I Met Him

Since I Met Him

         D                        A
Now it's hard to describe what my life used to be
                                     D
To someone who's always been able to see.
           D                 A
You know I wasn't unhappy or bitter that way,
                                              D
But everything's changed since I met Him that day.

I was down at the corner just passing the time,
Sitting in the sunlight and feeling it shine,
When the sound of a crowd began to grow in my ear,
So I waited and I listened as I heard them draw near.

           G
    Then a man stepped up to me and He spat on the ground.
               A
    He put the mud on my eyes and then He smeared it around.
            G
    Sent me off to Siloam to wash off the clay,
          A                                  D
    And I opened my eyes and I looked at the day.

              G                   D              G                     D
        And I have no idea how He did it, I just know what happened to
me.
        G                  D             A                     D  D G A
D
        Yesterday I was in darkness, but since I met Him I can see.

When the Pharisees heard it they put me on trial,
Even called in my parents and grilled them awhile,
And when, at the end, I defended the man,
Who had opened my eyes, the troubles began.

    I said "Ever since the beginning of time
    No one's opened the eyes of someone born blind.
    This man's sent from God, it just can't be denied";
    And they cursed me and grabbed me and threw me outside.

        I really don't know how He found me. I just know He was talking
to me.
        It was easy to tell by the sound of His voice He was the reason
I see.

    And as soon as He spoke to me I couldn't hide
    The emotion that welled up from deep down inside
    And combined in the dreams that He made to come true,
    To kneel there and worship was all I could do

        And I called Him my Lord and Messiah
        For everything He'd done for me.
        Yesterday I was in darkness,
        But since I met Him I can see.

        And I call Him my Lord and my savior
        For everything He's done for me.
        Yesterday I was in darkness,
                    C           C    F  C
                But since I met Him,
                A           A   Asus  A
                Since I met Him,
                G           A         D
                Since I met Him I can see.

                C                D   F C
                Since I met Him, Messiah
                A                A   Asus A
                Since I met Him, Messiah
                G           A         D
                Since I met Him I can see

And no dark clouds of doubt now my pathway obscure,
Since Jesus came into my heart!

Since Jesus came into my heart!
And the gates of the City beyond I can see,
Since Jesus came into my heart!

I shall go there to dwell in that City, I know,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
And I’m happy, so happy, as onward I go,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
