Christmas in Hollis       (Listen to original song)

     Dm - C ~ ~                 Dm                                              C

1.                     It was December 24th on Hollis Ave after dark,

                Dm                                                       C

when I see a man chilling with his dog in the park.

            Dm                                                            C

I approached very slowly with my heart full of fear,

                          Dm                                          C

looked at his dog, oh my God, an illin' reindeer.

           Dm                                                           C

2. But then I was illin' because the man had a beard,

              Dm                                                   C

and a bag full of goodies, 12 o'clock had neared.

           Dm                                                                  C

So I turned my head a second and the man had gone,

                 Dm                                                                        C

but he must have dropped his wallet smack down on the lawn.

       Dm                                                 C

3. I picket the wallet up, then I took a pause,

                        Dm - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -  C

took out the license and it cold said "Santa Claus".

        Dm                                                     C

A million dollars in it, cold hundreds of G's,

        Dm                                                              C

enough to buy a boat and matching car with ease.

               Dm                                                           C

4. But I'd never steal from Santa, ‘cause that ain't right,

                  Dm                                                        C

so I was going home to mail it back to him that night.

                      Dm                                                       C

But when I got home I bugged, cause under the tree

              Dm                                                        C        + Dm - C (2x)

was a letter from Santa, and the dough's for me.

             Dm                                    C

5. It's Christmas time in Hollis, Queens,

      Dm                                                     C

Mom's cooking chicken and collard greens.

     Dm                                                   C

Rice and stuffing, macaroni and cheese,

            Dm                                               C
